I would like to make vinegar from apple cider. The apple cider comes in plastic jugs (think Tic Tacs, only stronger). How much vinegar is it appropriate to make? By how much do I need to increase it? A: Did you ever find out the answer to that question? It sounds like you're drinking the leftover contents of a jug of Tic Tacs, which is why you're asking about vinegar. Are you finding this out because you're making something with your apple cider, or is this a question of, "I have a load of apple cider, what can I do with it?" There is a volume of vinegar you can make from a given volume of alcohol, and it's based on that volume's specific gravity. (So 1 cu ft. of alcohol will produce 1 cu ft. of vinegar based on that particular species, and the recommended amount of sugar.) The only other real question is whether it's safe to drink, which ultimately will depend on whether your source of alcohol is reliable and whether it's been properly sterilized. A: Vinegar should also be made from white wine or white wine vinegar. Red wines cause a different taste and some people like the color while others don't. White wine vinegar and white wine produce the same taste. You could use apple cider and add sugar and a touch of honey or the other liquid in the same ratio. You probably need to add at least 2 1/2 cups of sugar per gallon to get a good taste for cider vinegar. /* * Licensed to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) under one * or more contributor license agreements. Non-operative treatment of major hip fractures in elderly patients with hip protectors and a walking aid: a randomized controlled trial. Hip fractures in the elderly have a tremendous impact on activities of daily living, emotional well-being, and quality of life. In the present study, we aimed to determine if a simple collar is as effective in preventing hip fractures as complex external fixators in patients who used walking aids. This randomized controlled trial included patients (≥65 years of age) with a hip fracture. Patients were randomly assigned to either a collar or an external fixator. After surgery, patients in both groups used a walking aid during a two-year follow-up period. Primary outcome was the rate of subsequent hip fractures. Secondary outcome was the percentage of patients who were able to walk independently. A total of 200 patients were analyzed. Follow-up was 99% complete, and the median follow-up time was 2 years. During the follow-up period, 23 participants sustained additional hip fractures. The hip fracture rate was 30% lower in patients treated with a collar than in patients treated with an external fixator (0.43 vs. 0.58; hazard ratio 0.59 [0.34-1.03]; P=0.06). The percentage of independent walkers at the two-year follow-up was significantly higher in patients treated with a collar (92.3 vs. 86.8%; odds ratio 2.70 [1.15-6.33]; P=0.02). The present findings indicate that use of a simple collar instead of a complex external fixator reduces the rate of hip fractures and increases the proportion of independent walkers in elderly patients with hip fractures who use walking aids. This study showed that use of a simple collar instead of a complex external fixator reduced the hip fracture rate and increased the proportion of independent walkers in elderly patients with hip fractures who use walking aids. The present invention relates to an automatic focusing device used in a video camera and, more particularly, to an automatic focusing device capable of detecting a focusing condition.
